Classification of Triassic marine conservation deposits based on abundances of fossil groups using a variation–covariation principal components analysis and the characterization of the fossiliferous units of Monte San Giorgio (red margin). Data are listed in Table 4. Note the similarity in faunal composition of Monte San Giorgio and the Chinese Lagerstätten. The Paris biota (Thaynes Fm) and Polzberg (Lunz Fm) are special in being more invertebrate dominated. The fish localities overlap with those with abundant reptiles (e.g., Ducan).
